It’s 2021, and still, racism exists in almost every facet of our society. That’s not right. We’re proud to be partnered with Show Racism The Red Card, the UK’s largest anti-racism educational charity. Established in 1996 by English goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, Show Racism The Red Card aim to tackle racism and educate people to the facts and consequences racism has.
The idea that professional footballers, as role models, could affect change was the starting block for SRtRC, but even at an amateur level, we have a platform to make a difference, and to champion the message that racism in any form is unacceptable. Throughout our teams, throughout our league, from the football on the field to our representation in the community, we stand firmly against racism. As well as a visual message of red cards, reinforcing this message before games across the season, we will work with SRtRC to hold workshops, to continue to educate and tackle racism wherever we see it.
